The Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture (CSCMA) was established in June of 1994. As of May. 2016 has 2800 members, 75% of whom have at least a post-secondary education. Many are medical specialists with PhD’s or senior academic teaching posts. CSCMA is Canada’s largest and most prestigious professional organization of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture. Its members come from across Canada, although 80% reside in Ontario and the metro Toronto area. Mr. Zhao Cheng is President of CSCMA
CSCMA is a national federally incorporated non-profit association of TCM and acupuncture practitioners and TCM pharmacists. Non-political and non religious, CSCMA is a professional organization with head quarters in Toronto. CSCMA strives to achieve the following objectives:
To unite all TCM and acupuncture practitioners to work together, encourage them to advocate the legal recognition and regulation of TCM in Canada, and the establishment of legal framework for TCM in Ontario. To popularize and to spread TCM knowledge, promote the recognition and acceptance of TCM, and to provide prevention, treatment, restoration and health care services. To provide continuing education and training opportunities for CSCMA members, and to support academic research and clinical services. To standardize TCM practices and provide effective oversight of CSCMA members in order to strengthen public perception of the CSCMA. Since the establishment of CSCMA, it has held two international TCM conferences successfully.
